Born northwest of Jupiter Well in the Gibson Desert of Western Australia. Bambutu Napangati and her family were brought to Papunya by the Northern Territory Welfare Branch Patrol in the 1960's.

Bambutu Napangardi is a Pintupi senior law woman and depicts designs associated with women's Ceremony. Bambutu is the sister to Charlie Tjapangati and Nanyuma Napangardi, both recognised artists.

Bambutu is the widow of Dinny Campbell Tjampitjinpa, one of the founding members of the Papunya Tula art movement. She would often assist her husband on the infill of his works at that time and is highly regarded as an artist who performs intricate and powerful work.
